of newtown, we are with you today and in the weeks and months ahead that was the word today from ron barber, who was shot and wounded in the mass shooting in tucson last year that killed six people and wounded 13, including the grievous wounding of congresswoman gabby giffords. ron barber, who took gabby giffords' seat in congress after she stepped down to deal with her injuries. he said today, as those of us in tucson know, senseless acts such as these tear at the very fabric of a community. mark kelly, gabby giffords' husband said today i just spoke with gabby, and she sends her prayers from tucson. in oak creek, wisconsin, where four months ago this was another mass shooting at a sikh temple, another six people gunned down at that temple. a school superintendent there today told the local press that she cried when she heard the news out of newtown, connecticut. she said we always think it can't happen here, and we pray fervently that it won't. but as we know from our experience this summer, kit happen anywhere. the mayor of aurora, colorado, is still helping his community try to recover

we were covering the shooting in newtown, connecticut, anderson learned something that made us all sick to our stomach that people were trying to capitalize on the tragedy, fraudulently trying to capitalize on the victims' family families. tonight a woman has been arrested in connection with one of those alleged scams. drew will join me with the details in a moment. first here's how we got to this point. last week the uncle of 6-year-old noah told anderson there were fake web site, facebook pages and e-mails going around asking for donations in noah's name. drew griffin and david fitzpatrick, our produce, tracked one of those e-mails to the bronx, and her name is noah alba, and they went to her house. here is what happened next. >> hi. are you ms. alba? you set up donations on behalf of the newtown tragedy? >> no. >> here is your name and address on the e-mail. >> no, i will show you who i am. >> can i come in with the camera crew? >> no. >> alba eventually agreed to let her voice be recorded and denied she had anything to do with the e-mail having to do with donations. this is mor

thinking -- would newtown be one of them? >> newtown would certainly be one of them. i think we're going to -- many people are calling this rock bottom. it's making us really take a look at if our laws really are preserving our freedoms or taking away our freedoms, our freedom to be safe on the streets. and so that's the way people are starting to challenge the ideology. but look at penn state and the tragedy and the conviction of jerry sandusky. i think already people are understanding how sexual abuse in children can be very, very damaging and they're taking greater lengths to protect children. also, all the various uprisings in the middle east from egypt to the tragedy still going on in syria, i think we're at a new place in the middle east where we have a younger generation that's using a new tool in the environment, technology -- during egypt's uprising, for instance, i was getting tweets and facebook posts from people. so i can imagine you being a cnn employee, trying to get to the american media to spread the word. so i think that the path we're on now, while it's still bloody and
